Little Mermaid cake
This is a cake I made for my niece's 2nd birthday. The theme was Little Mermaid, so sea shells and fishes immediately came to mind.
I decided to play with gum paste, since I haven't tried it before but heard good things about it. hahaha. I learn a lot from watching cake shows.
I used candy molds to make the shells, fish and corals. You can get the molds at any craft store. I then painted it with coloring paste and some with pearl dust mixed with almond extract. The sand is Vanilla wafers. Everything is edible but the Ariel candle.

The dent above the fish was caused by me! Did it while carrying the cake to the venue. I was pretty bummed about that. But, everyone still thinks the cake was perrrty!
Police car cake
My son requested a police car cake for his 4th birthday. This was a little tough for me especially the carving part. I haven't done much cake carving before. Luckily, my husband came to the rescue :) He helped with the carving to make it look like a car!
I decided to go with neopolitan cake this time (chocolate, yellow, strawberry, white). The chocolate, yellow and strawberry made up the body of the car. The white made up the hood. Everything is made out of marshmallow fondant (it's all I ever use), except for the 4 candles.
